Become a Student Supporter

NZGBC student membership is how we connect students to New Zealand's green building community, by providing information and opportunities to get involved with the activities of NZGBC and our member organisations. To help achieve these goals, we encourage our members to become NZGBC student supporters.

What does a NZGBC student supporter do?

NZGBC student supporters share their knowledge with our student members. You must be a current member of NZGBC, and you can be as involved as you like, depending on your availability. Here are some ways you can support our students:

Host a student volunteer or paid intern

Volunteer or intern positions do not have to be for NZGBC-rated projects; any full-time or part-time position at a company with a sustainable business interest can be attractive to our student members. We can advertise your intern/volunteer position directly to our student members. Alternatively, we will send interested applicants your details so they can contact you, and you decide if you have a suitable opportunity to offer. You are under no obligation to offer positions to our student members.

Mentor a student

From time to time we are asked to find mentors for final-year students; we will keep your details on file and contact you if an opportunity arises.

Become a guest lecturer

Tertiary institutions often request lectures from people in the field. We will keep your details on file and contact you if an opportunity arises.

Support an event or competition

This is a fun way to promote green building to students. You could put your name on a design or photo competition, or an Amazing Race around a city's green buildings with a sponsored prize. We are open to your ideas.

Sponsor green building research

Our tertiary-institution members are often seeking research partners. Lets talk about creating a research scholarship for green building.

Suggest green building topics for research

Our tertiary-institution members regularly seek relevant topics to investigate. We would like to hear your ideas
