As our communities become denser and we live in closer proximity to one another, better standards for our homes are essential. High environmental performance houses are proven to improve health, reduce energy costs and ease the burden on urban infrastructure.
Join us for a half day thought leadership workshop to discuss how sustainable rating tools are increasing the quality of New Zealand buildings. Gain insight into the incentives that councils are using to encourage the building of better buildings. Followed by the launch of the Homestar v4 tool!
Feel free to join us for all the sessions, or drop in for the sessions that most interest you – programme listed below.
If you would just like to attend the Homestar v4 Launch you can register for this separately here.

Council incentives increase the quality of buildings in their districts in terms of sustainability and environment footprint. However, inconsistencies in the way regional and local councils provide incentives are currently limiting Green Building schemes from achieving their full potential.
Sixty-seven of New Zealand’s seventy-eight councils are territorial authorities with responsibilities for infrastructure, including water, sewerage, storm water, environmental safety and health, building control, environmental health matters, controlling the effects of land use (including biodiversity), and impacts on lakes and rivers - much of which would benefit from green building and sustainable infrastructure design.Join Andrew Eagles; Maree Baker-Galloway, President - RMLA, Partner - Anderson Lloyd; and Rachel Brooking, Senior Associate - Anderson Lloyd, to explore how the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act and other tools and instruments can be used to enable and incentivise better, “greener” buildings and houses.
Earn RMLA CPD points!
|5.30-7.30pm||Launch of the Homestar version 4 tool|
Homestar registrations have grown ten fold in the last 18 months to over 6,500 registrations. To keep up with this demand we have undergone a major review of the tool to ensure a simpler, quicker and more marketable verification of quality. We welcome you to join us to celebrate the launch and thank you, the sector for your extensive input.
Please join us for a celebratory toast, and hear from our exciting speakers - to be announced shortly!
