Tool Development

The Green Star NZ rating tools are developed using a collaborative and integrated approach which has been trialled here and internationally. A Working Group is formed with widespread industry involvement and this has proven to be a vital ingredient in the overall success and market uptake of the resulting tool.

The Working Group meets over a number of months to develop the tool. A Pilot version of the tool is then released for public comment and feedback. This feedback is fully reviewed by the NZGBC and incorporated into the tool under the guidance of the Working Group.  A summary of responses to feedback is then published, followed by the launch of the final tool and a guide to changes between the Pilot and final versions.

This whole process may take up to 12 months, however every effort is made to bring new tools to market as quickly as possible.

Green Star NZ tools for new sectors and building types are developed in response to industry demand. Please send us your suggestions for new tools.
