Green Star Spring Clean

UPDATE: You can now apply to become an Accredited Energy Modeller, and find out more information about the Producer Statement approach.

The Green Star team have been hard at work to simplify & de-clutter Green Star, we’re calling it our Spring Clean!

We are pleased to announce our Green Star 'Spring Clean' projects which will significantly reduce the time and cost associated with compiling Green Star submissions. Green Star Spring Clean is all about streamlining and improving Green Star processes and will improve the experience for project teams going through the certification process. We have had feedback that compiling Green Star documentation can be costly and time consuming, so this is specifically designed to address these issues and we think it will make a big difference to our project teams. Our improvement projects are:

  • Building on the success of our Credit Templates by rolling out even better templates for all of our Tools.
  • Reviewing the documentation required for each credit and reducing documentation requirements where possible, without reducing the robustness of the tool. We are aiming to reduce the number of compliance requirements by 20 – 30%.
  • Streamlining the process of Built Certification in particular, and reducing documentation requirements for projects undergoing Built certification, that have already achieved Design ratings.
  • Moving to a Producer Statement approach for Ene-1 and IEQ-6 and having a register of approved Energy modellers.

We are targeting a release date of Feb 2012 for these improvements. Green Star Spring Clean is retrospective, so when released, these changes can be applied immediately to projects that are already registered and underway with v1 and 2009 projects. This will not be compulsory, so you won’t have to revise any parts of your submission that you’ve already prepared, but if you want to benefit from our changes, then you’re welcome to!

Green Star Spring Clean will significantly reduce the time and cost associated with compiling Green Star submissions. Green Star Spring Clean will complement our targeted Tool Review, which is also on-going, and these two projects combined will represent a leap forward for Green Star Tools in NZ.
