Lessons from Green Star as Business As Usual – a Mansons TCLM perspective

Since Green Star launched, Mansons TCLM has developed five Green Star certified buildings with sixth currently registered. Green Star certified ratings have become business as usual for this Auckland family-owned property development company. Development Manager, Gary Young, joins us to talk about why they have made a commitment to third-party certification, what lessons they have learned in terms of process and building features, how they have overcome Green Star challenges and what the outcomes have been.

The value of a community on the value of a home

The Auckland property and construction industry is looking ahead to deliver the housing needs for a growing population within our current city limits. Hobsonville Point is a new urban development with a medium density model and a focus on community features. Katja Lietz, Sustainability Manager for Hobsonville Land Co. has been researching the relationship between sustainable community features and house prices. She will present findings about the impact on house prices that neighbourhood features such a section size, garaging, density, distance to the CBD and employment and public transport have on house prices.

Getting ready for NABERS NZ

New Zealand is poised to be able to measure the energy performance of our office buildings with the adoption of Australia’s NABERS rating tool for NZ in early 2013. Alex Cutler, NZGBC CEO, will give a brief update on the progress of NABERS NZ, which will rate a building on the basis of its measured energy use and will provide an indication of how well your building performance compares with its peers and neighbours.

NABERS NZ – Technical Update

NZGBC is collaborating with EECA Business to launch building energy performance tool NABERS NZ in 2013. In order for a building to achieve a NABERS NZ rating, you will need to provide data for actual energy use. Ewan Gebbie, CEO of EMANZ, will give you an update on the technical adaptation of the NABERS tool for the NZ market and what sort of data your building will need to provide to achieve a NABERS NZ rating.
