Green Building Summit 09

The NZGBC partnered with Property Council NZ in late October to bring 280 property professionals together for the second Annual Green Building Summit.

We were lucky to present more than 26 speakers on the day, each bringing national and international insights into green building practices.

The overall message of the day was that green building principles have certainly moved into the economic main stream.

Summit Technical Workshops

The day following the Green Building Summit continued with more in depth, stimulating sessions on a range of topics addressing the latest in green building strategies, practices and research happening today and into the future.

Topics included:

  • Influencing green building practices in the urban environment.
  • Smart thinking on energy.
  • Green Office Interiors
  • Strategies for greening existing buildings
  • Green Star NZ - Good Submission Guide
  • Green buildings in education
  • Waste minimisation best practice
  • Energy modeling and the iterative design process
  • Green products and materials.

Study Groups for Accredited Professional Exam

Some of our members have suggested the reintroduction of study groups for those interested in sitting the New Zealand Accredited Professional Exam.

A model for this was established a couple of years ago and proved to be a successful and enjoyable way of preparing for the GSNZAP exam.

If you are interested in assisting others in the industry to get qualified and join us in the challenge to green our buildings contact us on greenstarnz@nzgbc.org.nz

Green Star Training Opportunity

2009 saw the expansion of Green Star training to include short courses on tools released earlier this year.

Due to growth in this area we are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced GSNZAPs to deliver our full day training in 2010 (alongside a member of the Green Star Team) to the wider industry.

Delivering Green Star training puts you and your company at the forefront of the NZ property market and gives your organisation exposure and brand alignment with the NZGBC.

In addition to this you become known in the industry as a 'Green Star NZ expert', able to offer your services as a GSNZAP to the 500 plus attendees over a 12 month period.

Please email Padma on padma@nzgbc.org.nz to register your interest along with a one page summary of your CV noting relevant experience with Green Star Projects.
