Homestar v5 Assessor

The Homestar Assessor course equips you with the skills and understanding to assess homes against the certified Homestar rating tool.

This course focuses on the processes involved in registering a Homestar project, identifying typologies, and collating the documentation required for a Homestar Assessment submission.

Course format

This course is delivered in an online format consisting of two 4-hour sessions across two days:

  1. A face-to-face session covering how to use the rating tool.
  2. An interactive face-to-face session with a presenter who will guide you through a project submission.

Have you completed the Homestar Practitioner course and exam?

In order to attend the Assessor training, every attendee will need to have completed the Homestar v5 Practitioner course and qualification, including the exam.

There is also a requirement to compete some pre-course work which will be sent to you prior to the in-person training.

Online Practitioner

Course participants

This course is targeted at those who wish to conduct Homestar Assessments of stand-alone or attached residential buildings including apartments. An understanding of current building code and construction practices as well as a familiarity with architectural drawings and specifications is recommended.

Assessment:

Full Homestar Assessor qualification will require the following:

  • Online examination - to be completed within 2 weeks of attending the course
  • Successful completion of at least one full Homestar Assessment. The registration fee for this first project is waived for new Assessors when registering within the first 6 months of attending this course
