Latest research from He Kainga Oranga (HKO), the Housing and Health Research Programme

HKO have pioneered large randomised community trials in existing houses that showed the causal impact of for example, retrofitted insulation. Nevil Pierse, Deputy Director of HKO presented results from their trials on the effects of insulation, heating and mould, as well as outline their future plans for housing research. A new community based on sustainable infrastructure: North West Cambridge, UK

This £1 billion development has the UK’s first large-scale stormwater recycling system, a district heating network and even behaviour change initiatives. Sam Archer, Associated Director, Sustainability at AECOM led North West Cambridge’s sustainable design and gave an overall outline of the project. View presentation.
