Struggling to rate, understand and measure your building’s energy performance?
EECA and the New Zealand Green Building Council run the perfect solution.
EECA Business in collaboration with the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) has introduced NABERSNZ™- a scheme to measure and rate the energy performance of office buildings in New Zealand.
Our annual NABERSNZ event series is back for 2018 – alongside CoreNet, we held this event at Beca, Aorangi House, Wellington on the 11th April.
Aorangi House, although 46 years old, now has a 64 per cent better energy performance than an average office building. The 12 storey building was given a full refurbishment in 2008 with a series of commercially and sustainably renovations. This along with building tuning has assisted in achieving a 5.5-Star NABERSNZ Base Building rating –it goes to show that age, can still come before beauty.
Shaan Cory, Building Scientist, Beca
Following completion of his PhD in net zero energy/carbon buildings, Shaan joined Beca in 2015 to develop our building performance analysis and tuning capability. He leads Beca's building fine tuning service (B-Tune) and has worked on many commercial and public buildings across New Zealand. Shaan’s optimisation of Aorangi House’s building services saved energy and improved comfort – and achieved the country’s first 5.5* NABERS rating for a refurbished office building.
Ben Masters, Associate, Building Services, Beca
Ben has over 16 years’ experience in environmentally sustainable design for buildings in New Zealand and the UK. He is an experienced NABERSNZ and GreenStar professional and provides specialist advice, computer simulation modelling, building performance analysis, green building certification services, building tuning and benchmarking for environmentally innovative outcomes.
