Listen to Brad Crowley, NZGBC and Francesca Lipscombe, General Manager at The New Zealand Ecolabelling Trust as she discussed ecolabels and their role in Green Buildings.
Environmental Choice New Zealand is the country’s only Government-owned ecolabel. Administered by the New Zealand Ecolabelling Trust, the ecolabel was established in 1992 to provide a credible and independent guide for businesses and consumers who want to purchase and use products that are better for the environment. The label gives assurance that a product or service has met internationally recognised, scientifically defensible standards and is environmentally preferable.
Environmental Choice has had a long association with the New Zealand Green Building Council and the label is recognised for maximum materials credits in both the Green Star and Homestar tools. Francesca will talk about the different types of ecolabels and specifically the Environmental Choice label, specification development, the auditing process and the latest developments and future plans for the label in New Zealand.
